Hi Everyone,
Some time ago, I wrote to you and many others all over the world, to inform you about a possible “Herkes/Harkes/Harkess/Herkess/Hercus/Harkness Folk Family re-union” that we were trying to plan. I promised to keep in touch, so here is letter number 2.
THE REUNION IS ON
The response was overwhelmingly in favour of getting such a “do” organized and this letter is to announce the location and time, August 3, 4, & 5, 2011 in Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland. Yes, almost two years from now but we need time to plan for the first reunion of the FOLK in 300 years.
We have located (a member of our Team visited and dined at) a delightful country manor that the Team feels would be ideal for the headquarters for our gathering. Have a look at: http://www.carfraemill.co.uk/ and at the additional photos attached. It is located in the Scottish Borders region just 21 miles south of Edinburgh and ideally suited for those of you who may wish to sightsee in the area while attending the gathering. Please share this letter with family and relatives as we would like to get as wide a circulation of this concept as possible.
For those planning to attend, please send me an email message of your planned attendance. We are now compiling a list of proposed attendees and we would like your name on the list. Again, feedback is important so keep us posted on your thoughts and suggestions. This way, the Team will have numbers to work with while planning the event. As before, you will be kept informed as plans develop.
Sincerely,
Neil Spacinsky and Jacalyn Herkes
